A World That Needs Hope
With the advancements in technology and years of missionaries being sent it may seem hard to believe that there are places in the world which haven’t heard the good news. The message that there is a God that loves them so much He would give His all for them. Last year, I was with a team training Pastors in South Sudan. During the trip we were invited to see the location of one of the church plants. There we met by the local pastor along with his family and a few of the church members. Among the group was an older lady, who began to share her story.
She told us of how she had lived a hard life full of difficulties. How she had always thought that if there were a God that He or She must be one that hated her and people. It wasn’t until the year or so prior to our visit that day that she had heard of how there was a God who loved her. How that God not only loved her, but gave His all to have a relationship with her.
You see, it was a couple of years ago that a trained pastor was sent out to plant a church in an unreached area. That is an area that has never heard the gospel. The pastor made her village his home and then began to share with them the good news. She had heard the message for the first time and was full of joy that she was cherished by a loving God. You could see the joy all over her face as she shared the story.
The fact is there are 6.8 billion people living on this planet and of those people are 6,829 people groups of the unreached.* They represent 2.74 billion people. Some have not heard because they are like this lady who was in a war torn country and it was hard for missionaries to get there. Others because they are part of nomadic tribes which move from one location to another. And then there are others who live in areas where the good news is forbidden.
Our goal is to answer the call that Jesus gave us, “Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,” (Matt. 28:19) We believe the fastest way to accomplish this is by sending out trained pastors to plant a churches. Please join with us in prayer for these unreached people – those in other countries and our own.
